A sinus lift is used for patients in the upper jaw in the back, where there’s not enough bone before you get to the sinus for an implant to be placed. So in order to restore that area, whether it’s one implant, two implants, or more than that, you go in there and do surgery where you raise the sinus. And you place bone into that area, let that heal up, and then now, you’re able to place the implant into the bone where it doesn’t get into the sinus. That helps you get implants in the back, whereas before you would not be able to have that. You might have to go to a partial denture or a bridge or not do either one because you don’t have the ability to have anything back there unless you do implants.
